Assessment Plan & Tools
Focus on Teacher
Throughout our timeline, daily assessments are listed. Each day, exit questions will be assessed on a scale of 0-2 for completeness and effort, with a 0 denoting no effort or completeness and a 2 denoting exemplary effort and completeness. Lab activities will have their individual content questions graded for content understanding allowing for the teacher to see any misconceptions and need for additional scaffolding. For the final project, groups will receive a grade on their evaluated project using this rubric. Individual members of the group will receive an independent grade for their post test covering content & their teammate collaboration score.
Through collection of exit questions and group activity logs, the teacher can effectively evaluate group progress and be alerted of misconceptions or individual struggles with content. As groups compile their research and create their final assessment, the teacher can provide feedback and monitor student work via group monitoring. Before the final presentations, groups will participate in a gallery walk, allowing for peer evaluation and feedback. This will be the final opportunity for teacher feedback and project revisions.
This unit will consist of both formative and summative assessments. The following table illustrates these categories.

Focus on Students
As denoted in our timeline, students will complete daily exit questions allowing for the teacher to assess individual content comprehension. By completing and submitting a daily work log, students will allow the teacher to see their progress and receive guidance after class. Before presenting their final assessment presentations, each group will be required to present in a gallery walk. This walk allows groups to practice their presentations and receive peer and teacher feedback before presenting. This walk gives students one more chance to make their last set of revisions before their final presentation.
Students will be shown the rubric for the final presentation on Day 3 of the unit. This allows students to see what the teacher is looking for in the presentations as well as give students more time to think about their presentations. If possible, student work will be assessed by a group of experts using the final presentation rubric. To determine the final presentation grade, the scores from the experts will be averaged. Not only are students being assessed by experts, they are also being assessed by their teammates using a teammate assessment form.
